I was stopped dead in traffic on I-5 last Sunday, going home after a day in Seattle but not getting anywhere due to a terrible accident. My soulsister Pixie and I were on the phone, discussing my vague and still-forming ideas about the tele-circle I’m planning (coming up tomorrow!) where we’re going to get into some brave and honest talk about money. Our discussion always goes deep, and before long we had turned to feminine archetypes. That’s when she laid on me the big A-HA that I can’t believe isn’t just common knowledge in the world of archetypal study. The missing woman.
Maiden, Mother and Crone are the three faces of woman, depicted in many goddess myths as the Triple Goddess. Triple goddesses are found in most pantheons; the Greeks worshipped the Maiden Persephone, the Mother Demeter, and the Crone Hecate, as the three faces of Woman. The Hindu honored Sarasvati, Lakshmi and Parvati; the Welsh, Blodeuwedd, Arianrhod and Cerridwen; Scandinavians look to Idun, Freya and Skadi. (Interested in the triple goddess from your own heritage? A quick Google search will get you there!)
Maiden energy is the youthful, spirited, carefree woman who lives for today; Mother is the unconditional nurturing love and giving spirit; Crone is our wise self and keeper of shadow.
“And then there’s the Queen,” Pixie said, “the one who rules the realm and lives in service to the realm, who sets the vision, who holds boundaries and attracts prosperity. She’s the fourth aspect that’s been missing in our understanding of what Woman is.”
You could have heard a pin drop in my soul.
“That’s…that…I mean…. WHOA.”
“Profound” is the word I believe I was looking for.
The Queen revelation has been taking root and spreading leaves within me all week long, and last night in a burst of understanding, I drafted a list of the light and dark aspects of each archetype, as it relates to money and our relationship with money. I sent it off to Pixie; “Yes!!!!” was the response. I think we’re both drinking this in, and I can’t wait to see what comes forth for us on Friday when we convene our tele-circle and dive into the soul of money.
When it comes to money, do you tend to have a carpe diem attitude? Do you underprice your products or services? Or become stingy and self-depriving? Which archetype is running your money script, and which could use some development and support in order to shift your money mindset? I know I’m excited to do some discovery. Join Pixie and me on Friday and let’s see what we unearth together.Details: Walking with Money Friday, August 3rd, 12 noon PST Dial 1.712.432.0190 Passcode 963419
